Tuesday Dialogue with Jakub BijakOn 5 April 2022, Population Europe held its monthly online Tuesday Dialogue, organised together with the Einstein Center for Population Diversity in collaboration with Förderfonds Wissenschaft in Berlin, and this time featuring the lead of the QuantMig project, Jakub Bijak. The topic of the talk and the ensuing conversation with Dr Andreas Edel, Executive Secretary of Population Europe, and the meeting participants was "Limit to Infinite Error: Dealing with Migration Uncertainty". The general points on migration uncertainty and preparedness were supplemented by current examples related to the tragic reality of the migration crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.

The summary of the meeting content was as follows: Migration is very complex, uncertain, volatile, and can have very high impact, as we are sadly, yet again, reminded during the war in Ukraine. At the same time, there are things we know about migration that can help us plan and prepare to deal with the inevitable uncertainty of migration processes. In this talk, we explore the limits of what can be said about current and future migration, and how we can deal with this imperfect knowledge.

The full recording of the meeting is available below.
