The 2020 PAA Mindel C. Sheps Award for Professor Frans Willekens
We are delighted to announce that a QuantMig team member, Professor Frans Willekens (NIDI), has been bestowed with the 2020 Mindel C. Sheps Award by the Population Association of America.
The honour is awarded every two years for "outstanding contributions to mathematical demography or demographic methodology".
For Professor Willekens, a former Director of NIDI, emeritus professor of Demography at the University of Groningen, resting member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Doctor honoris causa of the Warsaw School of Economics, his accomplishments cover a spectacularly broad range of topic areas, from multistate demography, through formal modelling and forecasting of migration processes, to microsimulations and agent-based models, next to outstanding examples of the service to the demographic community.
More information about the award can be found on the Population Europe website. The video from the 2020 PAA Mindel C. Scheps Award is available below.
Warmest congratulations from the whole QuantMig team!
