Three new QuantMig articles published in 2024
Throughout 2024, the QuantMig team has continued publishing academic articles from different areas of the project. In a paper "Exploring Migration Determinants: A Meta-Analysis of Migration Drivers and Estimates", published in Journal of International Migration and Integration, Akira Soto Nishimura and Mathias Czaika present a meta-analysis of the determinants of European migration based on the data from the Migration Driver Inventory, which was assembled as a part of the background data in Work Package 5.
In "European Migration Governance in the Context of Uncertainty", based on the work carried out in Work Package 1 and published in International Migration, Mathias Czaika, Heidrun Bohnet, Federica Zardo and Jakub Bijak present conceptual discussion of uncertain migration governance, and discuss the pitfalls of overconfidence. Finally, following the reseach in Work Package 9, Emily Barker and Jakub Bijak have published a paper "Mixed-frequency VAR: A new approach to forecasting migration in Europe using macroeconomic data", summarising the results of multivariate forecasting exercise and forecast calibration for 26 European countries based on data of different frequencies. The paper has just appeared in Data & Policy.
